My Name is G Linda Friars, VE9GLF.
My youngest 16 year old son wanted to become a ham so I began taking him to class and I began listening and studying. I decided to enroll in our local High School (I was allowed to as an adult), All the kids were young grade 12 students. I stayed out of the classroom and went in just after the teacher because well you know boys will be boys. Got some electrics in my head.
I passed in 1992 with 5wpm code and he passed about a year later. His call is VE9CFM.
My interested are Parks on the Air, World Wide Flora and Fauna, Islands on the Air, Everything I guess.
My most memorable moment is when hubby (VE9MY) and I were on Caraquet Island and I had one foot on land and one foot in the boat and the boat started to float away. I did manage to get both legs in boat.
What I like about Amateur Radio is having the chasers call me on the Radio when activating POTA or FT4.
I belong to CLARA, Canadian ladies Amateur Radio Assoc. Secretary off/on 20 years Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club.
